Third time lucky

A long-staying Pallid Harrier, first seen heading south at Spurn Point in Yorkshire in October before taking up residence in Norfolk first at Warham Greens, then Snettisham has been seen almost daily since mid December at Flitcham, just east of Kings Lynn.  Just after Christmas I decided to go and have a look at the bird but missed it by a matter or minutes and then a visit last Friday also drew a blank, and so with a nice day forecast, I took this morning off for a third attempt.  Thankfully, despite missing the bird shortly after arrival at first light, after a couple of hour very cold wait, I was eventually rewarded with superb views of this bird as it flew low across the stubble field before attempting to catch one of the many finches feeding along a hedgerow.
