A drive round the Dan Viljoen Game Reserve was fairly productive though didn’t get interesting until late afternoon by which time they were closing. Several Fork-tailed Drongos, Violet-eared Waxbills, Red-billed Quelea, Lark-like Bunting, Crimson-breasted Shrike, Pirit Batis and a Lilac-breasted Roller here.

Mammals were much more evident with 6
Giraffe,
Blue Wildebeest,
Greater Kudu,
Red Hartebeest,
Oryx and several
Warthogs and
Chacma Baboons, but we couldn’t find any Hartmann’s Mountain Zebras. This reserve has no big cats and so you are not confined to the car like most game reserves, so you are able to walk around amongst the Giraffes, which even though they tower above you, still run away.
